Clinical Indications

Monitoring therapy on patients with known sarcoidosis. Serum ACE activity is raised in just over half of patients with sarcoidosis, reflecting the granulomatous load.  It may also be raised in other diseases with articular manifestations.  For these reasons it is NOT suitable as a screening test for sarcoidosis.

Monitoring treatment in patients with diagnosed sarcoidosis

Patient Preparation  

ACE inhibitors should be stopped for 12 hours prior to collection.

Lab. Handling

Processing: Aliquot (MPA) and store at 4C in separating fridge (CB39). Referral:  ACE and send or NOACE and save at -20C in separating freezer (CB40)
