Interpretation

Interpretive comment provided by referral laboratory on a case by case basis for positive results. If any aspect of the test is positive the test should not need to be repeated unless clinical features change or unless advised by National Hospital on the report. Generally paraneoplastic patients are quite stable and convincing evidence that clinical features had changed significantly and agreement from Dr Lunn at National Hospital are required if the test is to be repeated sooner than 1 year. If negative at first testing, the patient is unlikely to become positive and therefore should not be re-tested within 1 year (this can be discussed with Dr Lunn at National Hospital).
