Tacrolimus is an immunosuppressant used after organ transplantation and for some autoimmune diseases.

For paediatrics a red top (EDTA) tube is required.

Causes for Rejection

Unlabelled sample.

Reference Range

Therapeutic range varies depending on reasons for use, type of transplant and concomitant disease and medication. 

Indicative target levels (trough sample) are 15 ug/L following kidney transplantation when used with steroids and mycophenolic acid, and 5 - 10 ug/L in stable patients.

Lab. Handling

Processing: Store the whole blood EDTA at 4C in the separating fridge (CB39). Referral: FK506 and send.
